Scholastic Early English is a unique technology-based program designed especially for young Asian children who are learning English. Combining a structured phonics-based curriculum with the benefits of interactive technology, Scholastic Early English is a highly effective program in building language confidence and fluency in children.
Learning Through Play
Scholastic Early English is not a desk-bound program. Learning truly comes alive with Scholastic Early English’s activity-based instruction. Our digital content transforms lessons in the classroom into a multi-sensory experience, allowing children to interact and engage with the language more extensively and naturally. Lessons are fun and highly energetic, keeping children motivated as they learn.
Scholastic Early English is a systematic and sequential English Language Learning program that develops five key early childhood learning areas using Interactive White Board technology.
Nursery Level has 192 lessons + 48 at-home lessons (the 48 at-home lessons can also be done in class). Levels 1 and 2 contain 240 lessons, at 30 minutes each. Therefore, there will be a minimum of 120 hours of instruction per level.
Learning time blocks can be at a minimum of 30 minutes to a maximum of 2.5 hours by linking 1 to 5 lessons together. Our instructional plan is designed to be flexible, based on the specified time available for an English tutorial. Most common pacing plans are 2.5 hours, 1.5 hours and 30 minutes per session.

Taught in constructive blocks, Scholastic Early English focuses on the mastery of 5 core language skills: Vocabulary, Phonics, Reading, Speaking, and Writing.
- Teaches words in context with sentences and stories to promote understanding and fluency.
- Digital content provides students with consistent exposure to authentic native-speaker pronunciation.
- Systematic phonics instruction provides children with a solid understanding of sound-letter relationships.
- Children will master the ability to decode, pronounce and spell words phonetically; an important lifelong skill that will enable them to handle complex vocabulary with greater confidence.
- Digital storybooks provide extensive reading practice such as choral reading and guided reading in the classroom and keep reading lessons fun for children.
- Comprehension activities help review and expand understanding of words and stories.
- Highly interactive and communicative lessons encourage children to use English authentically and systematically, providing them the practice and confidence they need to become fluent English speakers.
- Writing lessons start with handwriting training to complete your child’s understanding of sound-letter relationship and provide a solid foundation for your child to progress to letter-word formation, spelling, basic grammar and punctuation.
The SEE Program offers a comprehensive, communicative, theme-based four-year curriculum that utilizes a well-structured approach to learning English.
For 3 to 4-year-olds who may not have had any experience in learning English.
This level focuses on building students’ basic theme-related vocabulary, oral comprehension, confidence, and interest learning English. At the beginning of each lesson, students become comfortable participating in class through song and dance. Simple greetings are also exchanged to boost students’ confidence and interest in learning English.
For 4 to 5-year olds with at least a 1-year exposure to learning English and those whose fine motor skills are already much developed.
Children focus on developing basic reading skills through a variety of lesson activities to improve student engagement. Songs and art activities are incorporated into the speaking module to enhance the teaching-learning experience.
For 5 to 6-year-olds with 2 years of learning English.
This level focuses on oral speaking skills (with supported animation to aid comprehension), word families and independent reading skills. Oral blending and segmentation activities continue to boost students’ ability to read and spell (write).
For 6 to 7-year-olds with 3 years of learning English.
This level focuses on advanced language exchanges, advanced sound-spelling patterns and writing multiple sentences. Students will be able to understand conversational flow and order, to independently carry on advanced conversations, change sentences in the conversation to convey their own meaning and express personal ideas through writing, leading them to independently write longer sentences with correct word order and with more details.
- Teacher Training
SEE provides extensive teacher training where selected teachers are introduced to and will learn about the structure and sequence of the program in detail. Each teacher will be given a manual which includes notes, lesson plan templates, and active lesson ideas.
- Native Speaker Audio Support
The program is equipped with native speaker audio support to ensure effective instruction and delivery of the program. This feature definitely comes in handy, particularly for teachers who lack confidence in their English pronunciation.
- Teacher Preparation Page
Each page includes learning objectives, activity preview, time allocation for each activity, teacher language, and a “Teacher Tips Box” that includes videos or instructions of the lesson and off-board activities as well.
- Student Activity Books
In addition to the program software, there are 4 Student Activity Books for each level to support the students’ learning during and after class, and at home. The activity books have hundreds of color coordinated pages that review and reinforce classroom lessons. These activity books are designed to give parents clear insight into what their child is learning and make it easier for them to monitor their progress at home.
- Teaching Resources
For each level, the SEE program includes 2 flashcard kits. These kits contain vocabulary flashcards which teachers can use as a visual aid to teach and review words, pronunciation, and meaning. These flashcards are also useful for other modules like phonics, speaking, reading, and writing.
