The Scholastic Kids Press is a prestigious, award-winning international journalism program in which each year, a select few of talented Kid Reporters of ages 10-14 are handpicked across the globe to be part of the international editorial team, reporting to the editor based in New York. The program has now been operating for more than 20 years.
Since 2000, our award-winning young journalists have reported "news for kids, by kids," covering politics, entertainment, the environment, sports, and more in their hometowns and on the national stage. Sharing their observations and perspectives, their stories appear online and in issues of Scholastic Classroom Magazines, which reach more than 25 million students in the United States.
Scholastic Kid Reporters have made headlines by interviewing President Barack Obama, humanitarian icon Malala Youfsazai, television personalities from Trevor Noah to Whoopi Goldberg, creator of the Goosebumps series R.L. Stine, Dog Man author and illustrator Dav Pilkey, and former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama.
Since 2016, the Scholastic Kids Press has welcomed applications from Asia for bright and curious minds in the region. From rich cultural insights to news on the global health crisis, these stories have piqued the interests of readers, bringing Asia into the global conversation.
Recognised as an official member of the media, Kid Reporters will gain first-hand journalism experience through local and national news assignments, which lead to unique opportunities to witness important events and interview local icons.
Interested to be recruited in the global ranks of Kid Reporters? Complete the application form and submit to your local Scholastic office as below. All applications must be received by June 1, 2022. No late or digital applications will be accepted. Learn more and download the application here.
